HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS & FIRST YEAR COLLEGE MC, BGIRLS/BBOYS, Grafers and DJs:
You can get a SCHOLARSHIP to University of Wisconsin-Madison
This year’s application cycle for the First Wave Urban Arts Scholarship is open.
First Wave is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship offered through the University of Wisconsin’s Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives. It is the first collegiate scholarship in the U.S. devoted to the elements of hip hop. To be eligible, students must be graduating high school seniors or first year college students with solid grades and exceptional talents as poets, emcees, graffiti artists, break dancers or music producers. We award 15 scholarships each year. Once accepted, First Wave students study and expand their craft with internationally-renowned artists and faculty while pursuing a college degree in any academic major they choose.
Applications can be found online at the OMAI website link below. Applications are due December 3, 2010. Please help circulate this announcement to the teens and organizations in your community. You can also forward contact info to me directly, if you prefer, and I will reach out to your youth or program partners directly. Also, if you have a student in mind who is not yet a senior, please have them complete and return the attached Interest Form; I will invite them to apply to the program as soon as they are eligible.
In advance, thank you for helping us extend this opportunity into your community of young people. If you or your teens have any questions about the materials or the process, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
